Baxter is a 4-year-old Havanese mix. He came to us from a backyard breeder situation. He was living in a minivan with a trailer in the woods with 30 other dogs. He was one of the few surrendered for dog food to feed the remaining dogs. He was very sick and was having difficulty breathing and it was over 100 degrees that day.
Dr. Cinda put him on oxygen and antibiotics immediately but he was still having problems. An MRI was done and he was born with no holes in the back of his nose to breathe. He always had to open his mouth to breathe. He could not breathe through his nose and it had a nasty chronic infection in it. He had surgery through a specialist but it was not successful.

Dr. Cinda knew she would need to do a procedure she had never done before to save his life. It was successful and he was running around the day after surgery breathing through his nose. We were all ecstatic as we thought we might lose him.
Baxter is our ambassador for all the special needs dogs that come to us. He goes out of his way to make them feel safe and loved. He lays next to them and kisses them. He does love to pounce on Rosie because she steals his toys.
