Red is our 24-year-old horse that is the gentlest boy. He will look at you and then back up for you to scratch his butt. A couple of months ago we had a rainstorm and the ground in the horse pasture was wet and slippery.
He was running and slipped and injured his left stifle. He was limping badly, and I was trying to figure out what to do for him so it would not be a permanent injury. I used the cold laser on his leg, gave him injectable pain medication, put him on stall rest, and started him on a horse joint supplement from Standard Process.
He was still limping and in pain. I had Dr. Bleak out to see him and Sabrina, and he said platelet rich plasma would really help. I know how to do that but have never injected a horse’s stifle (knee). He showed me where he would inject it on the inner aspect of his stifle. I used my day off to prepare by drawing his blood, separating out the platelets and releasing the growth factors in a purified concentrated sample. I sedated him and scrubbed his stifle. Cris had him on a halter and I injected the solution into the spot Dr. Bleak told me to. It was a 1.5-inch needle and Red started to move his leg and then stopped. I was cringing but it went in perfectly.
It has been over 3 weeks now and he is no longer limping. Thank you Dr. Bleak for the advice!

Absolutely great that Red is recovering. Your willingness to continually learn new procedures may have added many more years to this gentleman’s life
